Checklist Flow compared with Checklists for Jira by HeroCoders

Checklist Flow for Jira 3.1.1 is the production version (1 November 2026). Last updated 1 November 2026. On the Atlassian Marketplace.

We make Checklist Flow for Jira. This page is neutral by rule: we take no commission from any app we compare, every statement about the other app comes from its own Marketplace listing or documentation with the date and link, and where we could not check something we say so.

HeroCoders' Checklists for Jira is the most installed checklist app on the Atlassian Marketplace. Checklist Flow is new. This page puts the two side by side and says plainly where the established app is ahead.

Everything about the HeroCoders apps is from their Marketplace listings and the Marketplace REST, read on 30 October 2026, and from public reviews on the same listings. We did not install or test them. Everything about Checklist Flow is from our documentation, a live Jira Cloud test site, or the released code.

Prices are the first-year annual user-tier prices from the Marketplace REST, read by the script facts.py. The Free app has no price list; its own listing says "Have under 10 users? Pro is completely free for you!" The Cloud Fortified row is the programs field on each listing in the same REST; for Checklist Flow the field is empty.

What the HeroCoders listings say

#
TopicTheir listing
Positioning"Better than subtasks or action items, Checklists empower you to create ToDo lists, Definition of Done, Acceptance Criteria, and QA lists on Jira issues."
Organising"Multiple checklists & headers, assign items, add due dates, save templates, notifications"
Automating"Apply templates by type, block transitions, Jira automation"
Visibility"Progress on boards, JQL search, export to Confluence"
Flexibility"Custom statuses, permissions and space settings, JSM public checklists, multiple languages"
Security"SOC2 Certified, GDPR compliant"
Enterprise tier"Enterprise offers Data Residency, Global Checklists, and JCMA support for DC migrations."
Free tier"Block transition before completing checklist"

Two things from the Marketplace data that a buyer may care about, labelled by how sure we are:

  • Limits on the free app. Two reviews of the Free app, from users and not from HeroCoders, say: "Just hit the 20 item limit" (1 star, dated 2025-05-28) and "Free is dishonest. It is a lock-in trap! Suddenly limits were introduced" (1 star, dated 2025-05-16). Against that, the same app has 1,026 reviews averaging 4.79 stars. We did not check the current limits in the app.
  • Scopes (a hint, not a finding). The latest version of all three HeroCoders apps declares the Forge scopes read:app-system-token and read:app-user-token in the Marketplace REST. Scopes of that kind are what an app asks for when it reaches outside Atlassian. Their listings do not say what the apps do with them, so we draw no conclusion. If where your data goes matters, ask the vendor. Checklist Flow's manifests declare neither scope and no external access; see Trust.

Where HeroCoders leads

#
  • Installed base and reviews. 30,187 installs and 1,026 reviews on the Free app alone. Checklist Flow has no reviews yet. For many buyers that is the deciding fact.
  • Programs and certification wording. The Pro listing states SOC2 and GDPR, and the Marketplace shows Cloud Fortified for all three apps. Stanki Guild has no SOC 2 report and Checklist Flow is not Cloud Fortified.
  • Export to Confluence is in the Pro listing. Checklist Flow has no Confluence export.
  • A free tier. A permanent free app with a large user base.
  • Enterprise options. The Enterprise listing names data residency and global checklists. Checklist Flow has global checklists (paid) and relies on Forge for data residency; see Trust.

Where Checklist Flow differs

#
  • A change history that cannot be cleared by any role, hash-chained and exportable, which is part of every edition.
  • DoD Health and release readiness across work items, with a PDF go or no-go record.
  • No external access declared. Atlassian's own Runs on Atlassian page describes the program as apps that use "Atlassian-hosted compute and storage".
  • Free up to 10 users with every feature, and a price per user above that.

How to choose

#

If your team already runs HeroCoders and it works, there is no reason to switch for the sake of it; if you do want to move, there is a switching guide. If you are choosing now, try both on one project and look at what each does at the transition, what you can export, and what each asks of your security review.
