Smart Checklist Free end of support on 15 December 2026: what to do
Checklist Flow for Jira 3.1.1 is the production version (1 November 2026). Last updated 1 November 2026. On the Atlassian Marketplace.
Smart Checklist Free for Jira reaches end of support on 15 December 2026, according to its vendor TitanApps. Nothing is deleted on that date, and you have three ways to go: migrate to Smart Checklist Pro (the vendor's recommended path), stay on the free version without support, or move your checklists to another checklist app. Whichever you choose, do not approve the major update that appears on 15 December until you have decided. This page gives the dates, what changes, the steps for each path and a neutral list of options. Checklist Flow is our app, so weigh that section accordingly.
Key dates
#From TitanApps' announcement and its end of support page, both read on 31 October 2026:
| Date | What happens |
|---|---|
| 15 September 2026 | End-of-support notice published. Migration to Smart Checklist Pro is available. |
| 15 December 2026 | The free version reaches end of support. A paid major version is released and appears as an update on your Jira site. |
| After 15 December 2026 | The free version gets no updates, fixes or support. Migration to Pro stays available. |
What TitanApps says changes
#- Nothing is deleted on 15 December. Checklists and templates stay as they are.
- The free version stops getting updates, fixes and support, and TitanApps does not guarantee compatibility with future Jira changes.
- TitanApps offers two paths: migrate to Smart Checklist Pro, or stay on the free version without support by not approving the major update. It recommends the first and writes: "If your Jira site has 10 users or fewer, Smart Checklist Pro is free for you under Atlassian Marketplace pricing".
- Existing Smart Checklist Free customers get 50% off the first year of Pro (contact TitanApps support to claim it); after the first year standard Marketplace pricing applies.
- Approving the major update cannot be undone, and any Jira admin with app-management permissions can approve it. After approval, existing checklists stay and can be edited, and templates become read-only. New checklists can only be added to issues created from an issue template, up to a monthly limit. Custom item statuses, permissions and notifications, and project and global checklist settings are no longer available in that version; TitanApps says they exist only in Smart Checklist Pro.
Read the vendor's pages for the details; we only summarise them here.
Your options

Read from the Atlassian Marketplace data on 31 October 2026. Prices are the annual list price in USD for the first year at 10, 50 and 100 users. The rows are the 5 most-installed of the 7 checklist apps for Jira in our tracked list, ordered by installs; this is not the order of the Marketplace search results, and apps outside our list are not shown. A blank install figure means the data held none. Star ratings are left out on purpose: the star field in the Marketplace data does not always match the rating shown on the listing, so open the listing for the current rating.
The table does not say which of these apps can import from Smart Checklist; ask each vendor, or check its documentation. For what to compare before you install any of them, see Jira checklist apps: what to look for.
Steps if you migrate to Smart Checklist Pro
#The vendor's steps, from its end of support page:
- In Smart Checklist Free, open Global Settings, go to Backup Data for Migration to Pro and click Create Backup. Wait for the confirmation message.
- Install Smart Checklist Pro from the Atlassian Marketplace, if it is not installed yet.
- In Smart Checklist Pro, open Settings, tab Import Checklists, section Import from Smart Checklist Free, and click Import.
TitanApps says your data in the free app is not deleted by this process.
Steps if you stay on Smart Checklist Free
#- Do nothing to keep the free version; it stays installed and working.
- On 15 December 2026 the major version shows in Manage apps as an update awaiting approval. Leave it pending.
- Tell every Jira admin on your site not to approve it, since approving cannot be undone.
- You can still migrate to Pro, or to another app, at any later point.
Moving to Checklist Flow
#Checklist Flow's Switch from another checklist app reads Smart Checklist's checklists in place, from its own field ("Smart Checklist", or "Checklists" on older installs), and imports them by JQL. The other app is only read, never changed, the dry run writes nothing, and every import run can be undone, so you can run both apps side by side while you decide. What moves and what does not is the same as for any Smart Checklist site: see Switching from Smart Checklist to Checklist Flow.
What we know about the Free edition:
- Checklist Flow reads whichever field you pick and parses it as Smart Checklist's Markdown. It does not treat Smart Checklist Free and Smart Checklist Pro differently.
- We tested the import on 17 October 2026 on our own test site with Smart Checklist Pro (trial) and Checklist Flow 2.7.0. We have not tested it with the Free edition, so check it on your site before you rely on it:
- A Jira administrator opens Jira settings, Apps, Checklist Flow settings, tab Switch from another app, chooses Smart Checklist and looks for its field in the list: Smart Checklist, or Checklists on older installs. On older installs with the "Checklists" field, run Smart Checklist's Synchronize first.
- Enter a JQL for one project and click Dry run. It writes nothing and shows how many work items and items would be imported.
- Open two or three of those work items in Smart Checklist and compare. If the counts match, click Import.
If the field is missing or the dry run finds nothing, the bulk import has nothing to read. You can still bring a checklist over one work item at a time: open Checklist Flow on the work item, choose Import and paste the checklist's Markdown text from Smart Checklist.
We cannot say what Smart Checklist's major update changes about its field, so run the dry run before you decide on that update.
Who can do it
#Jira administrators, with or without a paid Checklist Flow licence. Checklist Flow is free with every feature on sites with up to 10 users.

Common questions
#What happens to Smart Checklist Free on 15 December 2026?
It reaches end of support: no more updates, fixes or support. Nothing is deleted, and the app keeps working as long as you do not approve the paid major update that becomes available that day (TitanApps).
What should I do about Smart Checklist Free end of support?
Decide before 15 December, and until you have decided do not approve the major update, because approving it cannot be undone. Then either migrate to Smart Checklist Pro, stay on the free version without support, or move to another checklist app.
Are there alternatives to Smart Checklist Free?
Yes. TitanApps' own path is Smart Checklist Pro. Other Marketplace checklist apps exist, and the table above lists those we track with their installs and annual list prices. Checklist Flow is ours and can read Smart Checklist's checklists in place.
Will I lose my checklists if I do nothing?
No. TitanApps says checklists and templates are kept whichever path you take. What you lose by doing nothing is support, updates and a compatibility guarantee.
Is Smart Checklist Pro free for small sites?
TitanApps writes that Smart Checklist Pro is free under Atlassian Marketplace pricing for Jira sites with 10 users or fewer. Check the current price on its listing.
Does the import change Smart Checklist Free?
No. Checklist Flow only reads what Smart Checklist Free left behind and never changes it, so both apps can run side by side while you compare.
Can I see what will be imported before anything is written?
Yes. Every path starts with a dry run that writes nothing and shows what would be imported and what would be skipped.
Can I undo an import?
Yes. Every import run can be undone, and running the same import again adds nothing twice.
Who can run the switch?
Jira administrators, with or without a paid Checklist Flow licence. Checklist Flow is free with every feature on sites with up to 10 users.
