Approval Flow for Jira: required sign-offs on Jira work items, enforced by the workflow
List who must approve, and Jira blocks the transition until every required sign-off is granted.

Who it is for
#- Teams that need more than one approver on a change, release or request, in Jira Software or Jira business projects.
- Jira administrators who want sign-offs enforced by the workflow, not by a comment thread.
- Teams that must show who approved what and when, and keep that record on their own Atlassian site.
What it does
#- Named approvers. Name up to 20 people per requirement. Approver groups, project roles and a user field are available in the paid edition.
- Quorum and who must sign. Require N distinct approvers, every named approver, or let the first decision count.
- Separation of duties. The author of a requirement, and the reporter on automatic ones, cannot approve their own request.
- Stages and out-of-office substitutes. Sequential stages make one sign-off wait for the one before it. A substitute can sign while you are away, and the receipt shows both names. Both are in every edition.
- A validator that blocks the transition. The workflow validator Approval sign-off required stops the transition until every required sign-off is granted. Your identity always comes from Jira, never from the browser.
- An audit trail you can export. A hash-chained audit trail records every decision. The approval certificate and the audit evidence pack are part of the paid edition.
Every feature is described in the documentation. Features marked paid need a paid licence; sites with up to 10 users get every feature free.
How it works
#- List the sign-offs a work item needs, and name who may give each one.
- A Jira administrator adds the validator Approval sign-off required to the workflow transitions that should be gated.
- Approvers decide in the work item panel. The transition unlocks when every required sign-off is granted, and the audit trail keeps the record.

Security and your data
#Approval Flow for Jira is an Atlassian Forge app. It has no Forge remote, no web trigger and no calls to external hosts. Its records are kept in Forge hosted storage on your own Atlassian site and follow Atlassian's data-residency arrangements for that site. We run no servers for the apps and use no sub-processors.
